I have a new refrigerator! When the mobile RV guy came out to check on my old refrigerator, he started to tell me what was wrong and how he could fix it. I interrupted and told him “I’m hoping you will talk me into a new one.” He instantly switched from talking about fixing the thing to showing me why I should replace it, made me laugh. The new one is nice; all I have to do is turn it on. If there is 120 volts (plugged into shore line), it will use that, if it loses power, it switches to gas, automatically! No more lying on the floor, turning knobs, holding buttons, and when it lights, getting back up. The new fridge, installed, cost $2400.00.
I have a new carburetor! I was having a hard time starting the beast (beast is what some of us RVers call our motorhomes) and so I changed the carburetor, whether or not the problem, it was very old and should be replaced.
I have a new fuel pump! The problem was the fuel pump, which is in the fuel tank, the 40 gallon fuel tank. I couldn’t get anyone to come here and change it and so I had to do it myself. Nearly killed me but I got’er done. The beast is now running great!
I have new tires! The beast had new tires when I bought it, 17 years ago. I understand that old tires are dangerous no matter how good they look, so I got them replaced. Six new tires, installed, cost $1065.00.
I have new clearance, marker and tail lights! The lights were not working because of corrosion and lenses were falling apart from years of being in the sun.
My next task is to get the brakes checked. I can now drive the beast to get that done. I have money saved to do such things; I do not want to do anymore auto mechanics!
